Managing Partner Borislav T. Boyanov was welcomed as a speaker before the Annual Conference of the European Circuit of the Bar of England and Wales, held in London on November 28 and 29. The Conference was organized under the motto “Enlargement of the European Union – Opportunities and Challenges for Advocates”. Mr. Boyanov’s presentation focused on arbitration in the accession states. The presentation will be made available on the web site of the European Circuit.

Borislav Boyanov & Co. have announced the winners of the students essay competition entitled “The Bulgarian Jurist in a United Europe – Opportunities and Challenges “. The winners are Stanislav Emilov Hristov 4th year student of the St. Clement Ochridsky Sofia University Law School and Borislav Petrov Bozhidarov 5th year student of the same law school. The prizes of the competition will be two one year scholraships of BGN 1,500 each. Winning participants will receive their prizes at a ceremony which will be held on December 5, 2003 from 12.00 pm at the offices of Borislav Boyanov & Co.
On November 21 and 22, 2003 Damian Simeonov, Partner at Borislav Boyanov & Co., participated in a workshop in Prague organised by CELO (Central European Law Offices) on Competition & Litigation. The topics discussed included: (a) Decentralisation of the Antitrust Policy; (b) New Developments in International Cartel Enforcement (Leniency Policy, Dawn Raids, Follow-on Litigation – damages); (c) Role of Economics in Competition Law; (d) State Aid: Recent Developments; (e) Practical Comments for Presentation of Cases before European courts. Presentations were made by distinguished practitioners from EU: Charles Bankes and Jonathan Spence (London office of Simmons & Simmons), Juan Briones (e-konomika) and Conor Quigley Q. C. (Brick Court Chambers).
The South East Europe Legal Group, a regional alliance co-founded by Borislav Boyanov & Co., hosted a roundtable discussion entitled Important Legal Developments in South East Europe, Business and the Law during the South East Europe Economic Forum in November 2003. The Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Justice Sevdalin Bojikov delivered a speech on the interconnection between business and the law. Deputy Minister Bojikov was joined by distinguished law practitioners from South East Europe.
